Waheeda Rehman inaugurates the 15th edition of International Film Festival of Kerala

Veteran actor Waheeda Rehman, one of the most prominent actors of the golden era, will inaugurate the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) at Thiruvananthapuram on December 10... Astonished by her beauty and talent, Guru Dutt cast her in all of his films. Thus, Waheeda gave an exciting performance in Pyaasa (1957), Chaudhvin Ka Chand (1960), Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam (1962) and Kaagaz Ke Phool (1960).Waheeda also worked with the acclaimed director Satyajit Ray in Abhijaan (1962) and consolidated her position as a top Bollywood star with her commercial successes Bees Saal Baad (1962) and_Kohra (1964). Then she did Guide (1965/I) - a film that took her to the peak of her career. While commercial films like Ram Aur Shyam (1967) and Patthar Ke Sanam (1967) proved to be huge successes followed by Teesri Kasam (1966) and Reshma Aur Shera (1971).She later cut down on her acting assignments, Kabhi Kabhie - Love Is Life (1976)), Lamhe (1991) and Rang De Basanti (2006). She got National Award for Best Actress for Reshma Aur Shera in 1971.She won Film Fare award for Neel Kamal ,Guide ,Sahib Bibi Aur Gulam.She has 88 film titles to her credit. Govt of India bequeathed her with Padmashree in 1972. The Ministry Of information and Broadcasting , Govt of India rolled red carpet for her by inviting her to inaugurate the 40th International film Festival of India held in Goa last year.
