The Higher Technical Commission for Sound and Images

The jury of the CST artist-technician prize awarded the 2023 prize to Johnnie Burn, Sound Designer and Chief Sound Editor on Jonathan Glazer's film "The Zone of Interest". His sound design embodies the horror of genocide and questions our humanity.

The 2023 jury of the CST Young technician Prize selected Anne-Sophie Delseries, head set designer on the film "Marguerite's Theorem". Thanks to the delicacy of her work, Anne-Sophie Delseries succeeded in giving birth to a third character who is an essential part of the film's narrative.

32 nd Festival Cinema Africano Asia e America Latina begun

The 32nd edition of the African, Asian and Latin American Film Festival – FESCAAAL will take place in Milan and online from 18 to 26 March 2023 in theaters in Milan and online in Italy streaming on MYmovies.it.

After the “hybrid” experience of 2022 where FESCAAAL finally returned to theaters to gife life again to the places of culture and cinemas while maintaining a virtual dimension, our two-engine Zebra returns this year to circulate in Milan and Italy, greener than ever.

The film programming officially begins with the Opening Ceremony on Sunday 19 March at 6.00pm in a new prestigious location: Fondazione Prada’s Cinema, marking the beginning of a prestigious collaboration.

9 days of screenings, meetings with our guests, special events about cinema and cultures of the 3 continents in different locations: Auditorium San Fedele, Cineteca Milano Arlecchino and two other theaters.

These are the main film sections:

“Windows on the world” Feature Films Competition, a selection of the most recent feature films of the fiction and documentary genres from the three continents.

African Short Films Competition with the best short films created by cinematographers from the entire African continent and the diaspora. This section aims at promoting fledgling and young rookie directors, paying close attention to innovations and new expressive languages.

Extr’A Competition dedicated to Italian or Italian-based directors, reckoning with different cultures. This section hosts movies without genres or length distinction, whether filmed in Africa, Asia or Latin America or exploring themes of Italian multiculturalism.

Flash Section, a non-competitive section that includes the runaway hits of the Festival, Italian premieres of affirmed directors, critically acclaimed or major films from the most important international film festivals: the best of contemporary arthouse films from Africa, Asia and Latin America.

OPENING FILM
Under the Fig Trees by Erige Sehiri is the opening film of the 32nd edition of the African, Asian and Latin American Film Festival

After Venice and Cannes, the Tunisian film opens the Festival's 2023 edition at Fondazione Prada's Cinema
