44th International Film Festival of India 2013-Indian Panorama lineup of feature films.

Malayalam film Kanyaka Takies directed by K R Manoj will be the opening film of the Indian Panorama section  of the 44rd International Film Festival of India 2013  to be held at Panaji ,Goa from November 20-30, 2013. Out of the 210 eligible entries, 25 feature films were selected by the jury. The jury for Feature films, headed by renowned filmmaker and editor B. Lenin , selected 25 films out of a total of 210 eligible entries. Hindi film PAN SINGH TOMAR (Director : Tigmanshu Dhulia) which won Best Feature Film award at the recent 60 th National Film Awards is the 26th film of Indian Panorama, by virtue of direct  entry. The selected films include: six Malayalam movies, five Bengali movies, three Marathi movies, one Kannada movie, one Tamil movie, four Hindi movies, one English/Hindi movie, one Konkani movie, one English/Konkani movie, one Oriya movie, and one movie in Mising language. Among the  selected ,Bengali film Satyanweshi is the swan song of the late eminent  film maker Rituparno Gosh.

The 15th Mumbai Film Festival(MAMI) opened with screening of the film"The Butler" directed by Lee Daniels -Lifetime achievement award presented to Costa Gavras -Kamal Haasan honored

The 15th edition Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI) opened  with the presentation of lifetime achievement award to Costa Gavras,Greco-French director Costa Gavras (“Z,” “Missing”)  and Indian film icon Kamal Haasan.Shyam Benegal bestowed the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award upon French auteur Costas Gavras, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan presented it to actor-director Kamal Haasan. The ceremony also included the traditional lighting of a lamp, which was done by  actor Sonakshi Sinha. She was accompanied by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Images chairman and veteran director Shyam Benegal and MAMI trustee Amit Khanna, among other dignitaries. Also on stage were Canada-based Indian film maker Deepa Mehta (“Fire,” “Water”), Japanese director and actor Masato Harada, Afghan director Siddiq Barmak and Australia’s Jill Bilcock, a regular editor on the films of Baz Luhrmann (“Moulin Rouge”) and Shekhar Kapur (“Elizabeth”).Francois Richier, France’s ambassador to India announced the  civilian honor, Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres to Shyam Benegal.
'The Butler'  , a 2013 American historical fiction drama film directed by Lee Daniels, written by Danny Strong, Opened the fest.Supported by Reliance Entertainment, this year’s event focusses on cinema from Spain, Afganistan, France and Cambodia apart from Indian films. International restored classics will also be showcased. The line-up consists of over 200 films from 65 countries with films of directors such as Asghar Farhadi and Rituparno Ghosh as well as younger filmmakers. 
This year's festival competition jury is presided over by Driving Miss Daisy director Bruce Beresford, with fellow members including French actress Nathalie Baye, Japanese film-maker Masato Harada, Indian actress Konkona Sen Sharma and Canada-based Indian director Deepa Mehta.
The India Gold competition jury is headed by Oscar winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi (A Separation) while fellow jurists include Australian film editor Jill Bilcock (Moulin Rouge), British actor-director Waris Hussein (Passage to India), Afghan director Siddiq Barmak (Osama) and Hong Kong International Film Festival director and film critic, Roger Garcia.
The festival will also pay tribute to the late Bollywood icon Yash Chopra (who passed away last October), the late Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh and the late Bollywood actor Pran.Director Bill Condon's The Fifth Estate, about WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange,starring British actor Benedict Cumberbatch as Assange will be the closing film of this Film Festival.

Five Debut Films Nominated for European Discovery 2013- FIPRESCI News

The European Film Academy and FIPRESCI congratulate the nominees for the European Discovery 2013 – Prix FIPRESCI, an award presented annually as part of the European Film Awards to a young and upcoming director for a first full-length feature film. 

 

This year's nominations were determined by a committee comprised of EFA Board Members Helena Danielsson (Sweden) and László Kantor (Hungary), EFA Members Pierre-Henri Deleau (France) and Jacob Neiiendam (Denmark), as well as Alin Tasciyan (Turkey), Andrei Plakhov (Russia), and Marco Spagnoli (Italy) as members of FIPRESCI, the International Federation of Film Critics.

 The nominated films will soon be submitted to the 2,900 EFA Members to elect the winner. The European Discovery 2013 – Prix FIPRESCI will then be presented at the European Film Awards Ceremony in Berlin on Saturday, 7 December  2013

44th International Film Festival of India- Indian Panorama - list of films released

KanyakaTalkies (Malayalam film ) directed by K. R. Manoj , will open the feature film  section of indian Panorama in the 44th  International Film Festival of India (44th IFFI 2013 )  scheduled to begin in Panaji ,Goa from 20th. November this year .Kamal Swaroop’s Rangbhoomi  will open the non-feature film category.
Indian Panorama will screen 26 Feature films and 16 Non-Feature films.
The selection  jury for Feature films headed by  editor B. Lenin, selected 25 films out of a total of 210 eligible entries. 
The Non-Feature films Jury, chaired by director Raja Sen, picked 15 films out of 130 eligible entries. Kashmiri film Shepherds of Paradise directed by Raja Shabir Khan which won Best Non – Feature Film award at the 60th National Film Awards has also been selected by virtue of direct entry.
