70th Festival de Cannes- The Square directed by Ruben OSTLUND won the prestigious Palm d'or .


The Jury presided by Pedro Almodóvar, has announced the  prize-winners of the 70th edition of the festival during the Awards Ceremony. Monica Bellucci welcomed the prize-givers and winners onto the stage of the Grand Théâtre Lumière. The President of the Jury and the French actress Juliette Binoche, had the honour of awarding the Palme d’or to the best of the nineteen films in Competition.

The CST Jury decided to award the VULCAIN PRIZE FOR ARTIST-TECHNICIAN to: Josefin ASBERG for her remarkable artistic contribution to match the inventiveness of the film THE SQUARE. THE SQUARE by Ruben ÖSTLUND, Palme d’or, was screened at the end of the Awards Ceremony to close this 70th edition of the Festival.This film  was added to the selection of the 70th Festival de Cannes ,Competition.

70th Festival de Cannes -Un Certain Regard Prize announced

Under the presidency of Uma Thurman (actress - United States), the Jury was comprised of Mohamed Diab (director - Egypt), Reda Kateb (actor - France), Joachim Lafosse (director - Belgium) and Karel Och (artistic director of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival – Czech Republic).
Un Certain Regard 2017 presented in competition 18 films hailing from 22 different countries. 6 of the works were first films. The Opening film was Barbara  by Mathieu Amalric.

70th Festival de Cannes: The Critics(FIPRESCI ) Awards




The FIPRESCI Jury awarded three prizes: two in the Official Selection – one for the Competition and one for "Un Certain Regard" –, and a third one for either "The Critics Week" or the "Directors' Fortnight". Under the presidency of Alissa Simon, USA the FIPRESCI jury including Thomas Aïdan, France; Rodrigo Fonseca, Brazil; Barbara Lorey de Lacharriere, France; Pierre Pageau, Canada; Eva Peydró, Spain; Silvana Silvestri, Italy; Mode Steinkjer, Norway; Vidyashankar Jois, India. Coordination: Pamela Biénzobas, France/Chile decided the prizes as follows:

70th Festival de Cannes 2017-20th Cinéfondation Selection

The Winners of the 20th Cinefoundation Selection. 


The Cinéfondation and Short Films Jury headed by Cristian Mungiu and including Clotilde Hesme, Athina Rachel Tsangari, Barry Jenkins and Eric Khoo, has awarded the 2017 Cinéfondation Prizes during a ceremony held in the Buñuel Theatre, followed by the screening of the winning films.
The Cinéfondation Selection consisted of 16 student films, chosen out of 2 600 entries coming from 626 film schools around the world.
First Prize

Awards
The Cinéfondation allocates a €15,000 grant for the First Prize, €11,250 for the Second and €7,500 for the Third.
The winner of the First Prize is also guaranteed the presentation of his/her first feature film at the Festival de Cannes.
Rerun in Paris
The awarded films will be screened at the Cinéma du Panthéon on May 30th at 7 p.m.
All the films of the Cinéfondation selection will be screened at the Cinémathèque française on May 31st and June 1st.
