21 films vie for Golden Lion for Best Film, Silver Lion - Grand Jury Prize, Silver Lion - Award for Best Director, Coppa Volpi
for Best Actress,Coppa Volpi for Best Actor,Award for Best Screenplay, Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor or Actress .
“At Eternity’s Gate” is one of the 21 films competing for the Golden Lion. The movie is directed by Julian Schnabel, who made “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” . Willem Dafoe looks uncannily like a Vincent Van Gogh self-portrait, as he plays the artist in the biopic that premiered at the Venice Film Festival . This  film about Vincent Van Gogh claims that he was murdered rather than having shot himself.
Double Vies directed by Oliver Assayas after film Personal Shopper around cellphones and texting, returns to this theme in his highly intelligent new examination of what this technology means to our lives. Doubles vies is both a delicious comedy of manners and an enquiry focused on a group of middle-aged, middle-class French men and women, and how they are affected by the hyper connectivity of today. Olivier Assayas was born in Paris and made his feature directorial debut with Désordre (86). His films L’Enfant de l’hiver (89), Une Nouvelle Vie (93), L’Eau froide (94), Irma Vep (96), Cinéma de notre temps: Hou Hsiao-hsien (97), Fin août, début septembre (98), Les Destinées sentimentales (00), Clean (04), L’Heured’été (08), Après mai (12), Clouds of Sils Maria (14), and Personal Shopper (16) all screened at the Festival. Doubles vies (18) is his latest film.
Awards will be declared on September 8th at Lido di Venezia,Italy.
