FFSI Keralam of Federation of Film Societies of India organised an OPEN FORUM Today at 25th International Film Festival of Kerala - IFFK Official (opened yesterday) on the Topic "Contributions of IFFK to Malayalam Cinema" moderated by G.P.Ramachandran and participated by Jithin, Sajin Baabu, Ajoy, Meera Sahib, Benny Benedict and others. Kamal, Director, and Festival Chairman inaugurated the session.

25th IFFK - International Film Festival of Kerala inaugurated.

 





The curtain of the 25th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) raised on Wednesday, the 10th February at the Nishagandhi auditorium ,Trivandrum  Inaugurating the festival virtually Pinarayi Vijayan , Chief Minister of Kerala said the IFFK had stood apart from many other festivals due to its strong political and progressive standpoint. The inaugural function began with lighting of 25 lamps symbolizing 25th anniversary of IFFK. Receiving the honour on behalf of Godard, filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan said that the filmmaker is a genius and “that we are honouring Godard at the 25th edition of the IFFK is an honour for the festival itself ”. A.K. Balan, Minister for Culture and festival President in his presidential address recapped that the capital city would always remain the host city of the festival. Kamal , Chairman, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, Sreeramakrishnan ,Speaker Kerala legislative Assembly, V.K.Prasanth,M.L.A ,Beena Paul ,Artistic Director,Ajoy,Executive Director etc addressed the gathering . Legendary French filmmaker Jean Luc Godard who greeted the festival delegates and Kerala audience virtually from his home. Arya Rajendran, Mayor ,Thiruvananthapuram released Godard - Pala Yathrakal, the book by G.P. Ramachandran on Jean-Luc Godard.
Bosnian film Quo Wadis, Ida? opened the fest after the ceremony.Bosnian film set around the Srebenica massacre of 1995 during Bosnian war ,through the eyes of Aida a U.N translator ,whose family is also among the citizens of Srebenica trying to get shelter in the U.N. camp or escape from the mass execution. The Srebenica massacre was one of the most dreadful annihilations during Bosnian war.
