Golden Peacock Retrospective at IFFI 2019 


The 50th edition of the International Film Festival of India will have a retrospective of Golden Peacock Award-winning films of past 49 years. The curated section that retraces the journey of IFFI, will showcase 8 films from 8 different countries opening with Gamperaliya directed by Lester James Peries, the first Golden Peacock Award winner of 1965.

  • Moner Manush directed by Goam Ghose(2010)
  • Porfirio directed by Alejandro Landes (2011)
  • The Bostonians  by James Ivory(1984)
  • The King of Masks by directed Tian Ming Wu (1996)
  • Tulpan directed by Sergei Dvortsevoy(2008)
  • Leviathan directed by Andrey Zvyaginstev(2014)

50th IFFI 2019- the list of 14 films for Open Air Screenings, on the Theme: The Joy of Cinema, released.

The 50th International Film Festival of India announced the films in the Open Air Screening section of the festival. The International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa celebrates its Golden Jubilee Edition from 20th-28th November 2019. Every year IFFI organizes Open Air Screenings to bring the best of Cinematic experience to the Cine enthusiasts.14 Films have been scheduled to screen at two venues viz. at Jogger’s Park, Altinho and Miramar Beach both @ Panaji, The list includes of classic comedy films and selected films from the Indian Panorama section of the current edition. Screening is scheduled from 21st November to 27th November 2019. Open-Air Screenings will be open and free to everyone and will not require any registration according to a PIB release.

Hellaro (Gujarati ) by Abhishek Shah and Uyare (Malayalam)by Manu Ashokan have been selected to compete for the Peacock Award for the Best Debut feature film of a director .Award carries Silver Peacock, a certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000,00/- to be given to a feature film that reflects a new paradigm in motion pictures in terms of aesthetic, technique or technological innovation.
