Film Bazaar is the largest South Asian film market. It supports creative and financial collaboration between the South Asian and International film communities.
The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), formerly the Film Finance Corporation (FFC), is India’s state funding body for films. The 1927 Indian Cinematograph Committee recommended such a state-sponsored agency in its Report of the Indian Cinematograph Committee. As with the U.K.’s National Film Finance Corporation, instituted in 1949, the FFC/NFDC has sought to diversify funding sources for filmmakers, promoting independent, “quality”, or art films. On its website, the NDFC states “The primary goal of the NFDC is to plan, promote and organize an integrated and efficient development of the Indian film industry and foster excellence in cinema. Integrated in the year 1975, in the new name and broad objectives, National Film Development Corporation Limited (NFDC) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, promotes the Good Cinema Movement.
As an Offshoot of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), Film Bazaar has evolved into South Asia’s global film market from its humble beginnings in 2007. Every edition witnesses increased national and international participation. Over the course of five days, Film Bazaar becomes the converging point for film buyers and sellers from all over the world. The focus is on discovering, supporting and showcasing South Asian content and talent in filmmaking, production and distribution. The Bazaar also facilitates the sales of world cinema in the South Asian region.
Film Bazaar will be held at the Marriott Resort, Goa, India, between 20th and 24th November 2018.
