The 31st Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) begun yesterday. TIFF will run for 10 days from October 25 (Thu.) to November 3 (Sat.) This fest was launched in 1985 as Japan’s first major film festival and in the ensuing years, shined a spotlight on exceptional films and filmmakers from around the world. The opening night witnessed on the stage the attendance of members of the competition jury, Filipino auteur Brillante Mendoza, director Stanley Kwan from Hong Kong, American producer Bryan Burk, and two actresses: Iran's Taraneh Alidoosti and Japan's Kaho Minami. India's Rajiv Menon was also at the opening ceremony. Menon is here with his latest work, Madras Beat.
The following films will compete for Tokyo Grand Prix and other awards.
