48th IFFI 2017-‘Beyond the clouds’ by Majid Majidi to open 48th International Film Festival of India 2017 on 20th November at Panaji,Goa.

The film ‘Beyond the clouds’ by celebrated filmmaker Majid Majidi would be the opening film of the 48^th International Film Festival of India which will run from 20^TH to 28^TH of November  at Panaji,Goa.. This  two hour film was shown at the London Film Festival 2017and nominated for best film award. Apart from marking the official debut of the young talent Ishaan Khattar into the world of cinema, this film is also the first Indian film by Majid Majidi. Beyond the Clouds also features the South Indian actress, Malavika Mohanan in one of the lead roles. ‘Beyond The Clouds is a melodrama set in Mumbai’s impoverished underclass. A brother who lives on the wrong side of the law and his sister, who finds herself imprisoned for attempted murder after she defends herself from a sexual assault, are the two central characters. As it gives a voice to the voiceless and making a case for the people whose poverty denies them justice, it’s perhaps forgivable that the film labours its point a little stridently at times.’(Screen Daly)Oscar winner A.R Rahman was roped in to compose the music for the film. Rahman and Majid have worked together previously on the film ‘Muhammad: The Messenger of God’,which won the Cinematographer-Director Duo Award at the the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography Camerimage 2015.. Majidi, along with the lead actors, Oscar winning music director A.R. Rahman and Vishal Bhardwaj are expected to attend the premiere on November 20th
