Cannes Film Festival in short film category.
Afternoon Clouds directed by Payal Kapadia, a student from Film and television institute of India ,made as a
part of his film studies ,has been selected for prestigious Cannes Film
Festival in short films category. Payal is a student in film direction in FTII has been invited to participate in the
Cinéfondation selection of the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival. Afternoon Clouds depicts a 60-yearold widow, who lives with her Nepali maid,
Malati. The entire movie revolves around a single afternoon in their house.
This film features Usha Naik and Trimala Adhikari who were part of the recent
movie Haraamkhor.
Kapadia is the daughter of contemporary Indian artist Nalini Malani . Mayank Khurana (cinematographer),
Shreyank Nanjappa (sound designer), Ghanshyam Shimpi (editor) and Darpan Chawla
(art director) were part of the team. In fact this is the only film from India from all the categories.
