film "Daughter" directed by Reza
Mirkarimi won the Golden Peacock award at the 47th International Film Festival
of India This film competed with 21
other films in the festival's international competition section. Reza Mirkarimi
said it is his tribute to his teacher Abbas Kirostami,well known auteur who
died recently. The award is a Golden Peacock figurine and Rs 40 lakh in cash.Best
actor award was won by Farhad Aslani for his role in the film
"Daughter" and the best actor female was won by Elina Vasca for her
performance in the Latvian film "Mellow Mud". Both awards are
accompanied by a silver peacock and Rs 10 lakh each. The best director award
was won by Soner Caner and Baris Kaya -- co-directors of the Turkish film
"Rauf". The award comes with a silver peacock statuette and Rs 15
lakh in prize money, which was shared by the director-duo.The best director

cash prize of Rs 15 lakh. Pepa San Martin's Spanish film from Argentina/Chile
"Rara" won the Centenary award for best debut feature film carrying a
silver peacock trophy and cash prize of Rs 10 lakh. The ICFT-Unesco Gandhi
medal, a special award category created at this IFFI was awarded to the Turkish
film "Cold of Kalandar" (Turkey) directed by Mustafa
