Leading
Polish filmmaker Andrzej Wajda dies at 90.Wajda had recently been hospitalized
and died Sunday night, said film director Jacek Bromsk. Though physically
frail, Wajda worked until the end of his life. Using a walking aid, he appeared
at last month's Film Festival in Gdynia, for the premiere of his latest film
"Afterimage". His award-winning films like Kanal
(1957) and Ashes and
Diamonds (1958), The Promised
Land (1975), Man of Marble
(1977),are texts for students of film. Katyn
(2007) was nominated for Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year in
2008, and received many other awards and nominations
