Cannes Classics 2013 in 66th Festival de Cannes



66th Festival de Cannes’s programme of  "Cannes Classics " is made up of 20 feature-length films and 3 documentaries. The films will be screened according to the wishes of copyright holders in 35mm, DCP 2K or DCP 4K.
As announced previously, Kim Novak will come to present the restored print of VERTIGO by Alfred Hitchcock. Furthermore, the Cannes Classics 2013 program will be placed under the sign of a movie having marked the history of the Festival de Cannes LA GRANDE BOUFFE by Marco Ferreri, who aroused during her presentation in 1973 one of the biggest scandals of Croisette.

In honour of the 50th anniversary of Cocteau’s death, LA BELLE ET LA BETE by Jean Cocteau (1946, 1:34) as well as OPIUM (2013, 1:15), a musical comedy directed by par Arielle Dombasle, will be shown during a very special evening.
Euzhan Palcy’s film, SIMEON (1992, 1:55) will be screened in honour of the 100th birthday of Aimé Césaire.

Finally, in tribute to Joanne Woodward (presence to be confirmed), who can be seen with husband Paul Newman on the poster of the 66th edition, the Festival will screen the final film she produced: SHEPARD & DARK by Treva Wurmfeld (2013, 1:29).

The jury of the 66th Festival de Cannes


Jury presided over by Steven Spielberg ,the American director and producer and eight other prominent film personalities will  decide the prizes of 66th Festival de Cannes.  The Jury will have to decide between the films in Competition to award the Prizes which will be announced during the Closing Ceremony on May 26th  including the  Palme d’Or.

Kim Novak, Guest of Honour at the 66th Festival de Cannes



66th Festival de Cannes  will screen , the restored  one of the masterpieces of world cinema, Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo . The Festival has invited  the heroine of this classic, Kim Novak, to grace the event with her presence. Kim Novak will attend the screening of Vertigo, filmed in 1958, which will be shown in its restored form as part of Cannes Classics.She will also take part in the closing ceremony for the 66th Festival de Cannes where she will award one of the Prizes on Sunday 26 May 2013.

“Papilio Buddha” won Second Prize in 39th Athens International Film and Video Festival




“Papilio Buddha “  directed by  Jayan Cherian    won Second Prize in Feature Narrative Category of the 39th Athens International Film and Video Festival. Azooma (Gong Jeong S Hoe)  directed by  Jiseung Lee  won the first prize in the same category. The 39th edition of the Athens International Film and Video Festival opened on Friday, April 13, with more than 250 films from around the world. The Festival was founded in 1974. This year a record 1,049 entries were received in the festival’s Competition. Of these, around 200 were chosen to screen at the festival. The Festival is sponsored by the Athens Center for Film and Video, a project of the College of Fine Arts at Ohio University. other sections in the festival are : Experimental , Animation , Feature Narrative, Feature Documentary, Short Narrative, Short Documentary , The Black Bear Award for Best Use of Sound .
