27th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK 2022)-Life Time Achievement Award- goes to Hungarian Master Bela Tarr.

 








The 27th International Film Festival of Kerala will honor the unconventional and inspiring Hungarian Master Bela Tarr with Lifetime Achievement Award. A legendary film pioneer, Tarr often highlighted humanitarian issues in his films using a unique cinematic philosophy, which soon grew as a cinematic concept that is followed by other filmmakers worldwide. IFFK will have a Retrospective of his films which includes Werckmeister Harmonies and The Turin Horse, two of his finest works.

His films, ranging from Family Nest in 1977 through The Outsider (1981), The Prefab People (1982), Almanac of Fall (1985), Damnation (1988), Sátántangó (1994), Werckmeister Harmonies (2000), The Man From London (2007) to the The Turin Horse in 2011 were widely and critically acclaimed.
Tarr is the president of the Hungarian Filmmakers’ Association, member of the Széchenyi Academy of Letters and Arts, has been given the most prestigious Hungarian prize for artists, the Kossuth Prize and the Hungarian prize for filmmakers, Balázs Béla Prize. He was named Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres and was honoured with several remarkable national, international awards, honorary doctorates and life achievement awards.
The 27th IFFK and the cultural sphere of Kerala salutes the master filmmaker with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will present the award at the closing ceremony on 16th December to Bela Tarr who is on his first visit to India.
