Jane Campion will be the Jury President of the 67th Festival de Cannes

The New Zealand director, producer and screenwriter Jane Campion, winner of the Palme d’or for The Piano, will be the President of the Jury of the 67th Festival de Cannes. Cannes has always sought to adopt a universal and international approach, and in tune with this tradition, Campion will be surrounded by eight luminaries of world cinema, from China, Korea, Denmark, Iran, the United States, France and Mexico.

As in 2009 the Jury will therefore include five women and four men. Their task will be to decide between the 18 films in Competition in order to select the winners – to be announced on stage at the ceremony on Saturday 24th May. The winner of the Palme d’or will be screened during the Festival’s closing evening on Sunday 25th of May, in the presence of the jury and the entire team from the winning film.

67TH FESTIVAL DE CANNES -NICOLE GARCIA, JURY PRESIDENT FOR CAMÉRA D’OR AWARD

Nicole Garcia the French actor, director and screenwriter is to preside over the Jury for this year’s Caméra d’Or award for the best debut film at Cannes.She has acted in  Les Uns et les Autres, Mon oncle d'Amérique, Corrupt, Via degli specchi, Alias Betty, Little Lili, The Story of Marie and Julien, Overseas, A Captain's Honor, The Last Day, Le Grand alibi etc and  directed Place Vendôme, L'Adversaire, Selon Charlie, The Adversary, The Favourite Son etc. In this opportunity to champion an up-and-coming director she joins the ranks of previous Jury Presidents Bong Joon-Ho, Gael García Bernal, Carlos Diegues and Agnès Varda, who have all in the past contributed their experience and passion for cinema to the deliberations. “Presiding over the Caméra d’Or is an honour, a joy and a mission,” announced Nicole Garcia. “I hope to be worthy of the honour, bask in the joy and do my best to deliver on the mission.” Since 1978, the Caméra d’Or has awarded the best debut film presented in the Official Selection (Competition, Out of Competition, or Un Certain Regard), Critics’ Week or Directors’ Fortnight.
