6th Bengaluru International Film Festival inagurated

                                                                        

The sixth edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes) got off to a glittering start  at  the Jnanajyothi Auditorium  with actor Kamal Haasan  and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ..Artistic director, H.N. Narahari Rao presented  a bird's eye view of the festival.

 Iranian film director Pouran Derakhshandeh and Hof festival director in Germany, Heinz George Badewitz, were the guests of honour.Kurdish film Bekas (directed by Karzan Kader) was   inaugural film.

Bengaluru International Film Festival( BIFFES)opens tommorrow - Renowned actor Kamal Hassan will inaugurate the fest.

 

Bengaluru International Film Festival will be inaugurated by renowned actor Kamal Hassan at Jnana Jyothi auditorium, Central College campus (Near Mysore bank Circle) on 26th Dec, 2013 at 5:30 pm . Bekas a Kurdish film directed by Karzan Kader will be the Inaugural film.

Bekas  is the story of two homeless Kurdish brothers ,who see the Superman in the town's first movie theatre and decide to live with him in the US. It's a long, dangerous road in the hands of ruthless human smugglers. "Rocket" Directed by Kim Mordaunt will be the Closing Film

Thanga Meengal’ named the best Tamil film of the Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF)

 ‘Thanga Meenkal’ directed by Ramsubramaniam was named the best Tamil film of the Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF). Ramsubramaniam,the Director  received the award, cash prize and a memento from the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, chief guest of the evening. ‘Thanga Meenkal’ is Ram’s second film after “KattradhuThamizh.” 

‘Haridas,’ directed by G.N.R. Kumaravelan, was named as the second best Tamil film in the competition category. Kumaravelan received the award. A special jury mention award was given to filmmaker Bala’s ‘Paradesi’. The film’s lead actor Atharvaa received the award.Child actors from ‘Thanga Meenkal’ and ‘Haridas’ — Sadhana and Prithiviraj Das — were given the best child artistes award in a newly-constituted category. Actress-filmmaker Sripriya, director R.V. Udayakumar and writer S. Ramakrishnan constituted the jury .Young music director Anirudh Ravichander, who had a concert before the closing ceremony, was the first recipient of the Amitabh Bachchan Youth Icon Award, instituted by CIFF as an annual award. The eight-day extravaganza concluded after screening 163 films from 58 countries.Actors Anu Hasan and Karthi compered the closing ceremony . Suhasini Maniratnam and Shylaja Chetlur  CIFF organisers and Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation’s general secretary E. Thangaraj, president S. Kannan and vice-president B. Ramakrishnan were present.

Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) inaugurated in the presence of Aamir Khan as a special guest with Actor Kamal Hassan.

Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF)started in the year 2003 and ICAF is behind the systematization of the fest.All the earlier editions have seen a gradual growth in terms of attendance as well as popularity...The Competition Section for Tamil Films that was instituted in 7th CIFF to encourage Tamil Filmmakers has been holding a strong presence. Active participation of the Tamil film fraternity was initiated and spearheaded by Ms. Suhasini Manirathnam in the year 2009, which gave a facelift to CIFF.ICAF’s management team includes professional from various walks of life who have a passion for movies. The senior members of ICAF include but not limited to: Mr. Kannan, Mr. Ramakrishnan, Mr. Santhanam and Mr. Thangaraj (Festival Director), Mr. Murali, Mr. Srinivasan and more. ICAF is ably supported by the South Indian Film Chamber, Producers Council, Artists & Directors Association.The film Fraternity team providing active support to ICAF include: Ms. Suhasini, Mr. Sarathkumar, Mr.Mohan, Ms. Revathy, Ms. Rohini, Mr. Jayendra, Mr. Manobala, Ms. Lizzy, Ms. Poornima, Ms. Shylaja and many more.

11th CIFF  was inaugurated on 12 Dec 2013 at Sir Mutha Venkata Subba Rao Concert hall in the presence of Aamir Khan as a special guest  with Actor Kamal Hassan added color to the  inaugural.The evening’s entertainment was glitzy with enthralling dance performances by actors Shobana and Swarnamalya along with evocative music by singer Karthik who performed alongside Pianist Anil Srinivasan. 

The logo of the Bengaluru International Film Festival ( BIFFes) unveiled

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah unveiled the logo of the eight-day Bengaluru International Film Festival, commencing from December 26. Siddaramaiah said that the festival would provide an opportunity to film connoisseurs to watch and enjoy 145 films from 45 countries and their quality, technology, technicalities, outdoor settings, artistes, culture and lifestyle.

There would be aLine up of film  celebrities like  Kamal Haasan, Malini Fonseka from Sri Lanka, Goran Paskaljevic from Serbia, Pouran Derekshande from Iran, Jeffry Juterian from the Philippines, Dharmasena Pathiraja from Sri Lanka, Rajesh Gongaju from Nepal, Golam Biplob from Bangladesh, Juris Poskus from Latvia, Heinz Badewitz and Pola Beck from Germany and Taru Makela from Finland . As part of old classics, there will be Bimal Roy films, Samurai films from Japan and Neorealism films from Italy. A homage film dedicated to Rituparno Ghosh will also be screened. 

152 films from 45 countries in Bengaluru International Film Festival ( BIFFes)

The eight-day sixth Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes), being held in the city from December 26, will see participation of 152 films from 45 countries.won awards at major international film festival such as Berlin, Cannes, Karlovy Vary, Moscow, Venice and Toronto.Karnataka government has given Rs 2 crore for the film festival, Noted film icon Kamal Haasan will be attending the inaugural function .Films of celebrated filmmakers such as Andrzej Wajda, Asghar Farhadi, Istvan Szabo, Francois Ozon, Susan Blier, Goran Paskaljevic, Mike Leigh, Claire Denis and Thomas Vinterberg are to be screened.The highlight of the present edition is  a bunch of highly-acclaimed Asian films from China, Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan, Phillippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.14 films selected had been entries for the 86th Academy Award for Best Foreign Language film (Oscar).

6th Bengaluru International Film Festival ( BIFF) Dec 26, 2013- Jan 2 , 2014

Bengaluru International Film Festival ( BIFFes) is being organized by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy for the Govenment of Karnataka supported by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce.

The ensuing edition is the sixth  one ,to be held between December 26th, 2013 and January 2nd, 2014 will have diverse sections viz:

3. Chitrabharathi(Indian Cinema)
4. Kannada cinema
5. Retrospectives
6. Country Focus
7. NETPAC award winners
8. FIPRESCI award winner
9. Special genre: Train films

Competition sections for Indian Cinema and Kannada Cinema will also be held with handsome cash prizes in addition to a Special award to be presented by NETPACfor Asian Cinema.The festival will also host various forums for academic interactions like seminars, workshops and master classes for the students on different aspects of cinema.
