55th IFFI 2024-5,000 Films will be restored under National Film Heritage Mission
Over 5,000 Films of different languages in the 4K digital format will be restored under National Film Heritage Mission
Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Sports & Youth Affairs Shri Anurag Singh Thakur said that the 54 edition of International film festival of India (IFFI 54) was a celebration of unity in diversity, embodying the spirit of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: One Earth, One Family One Future’, bringing together creative minds, filmmakers, cinema lovers, and cultural enthusiasts from across the globe. This edition of IFFI was truly extraordinary, filled with notable firsts and ground breaking achievements that showcased the best of filmmaking”, he said while delivering a video message at the closing ceremony of IFFI. Shri Thakur noted that the 54 IFFI showcased around 250 films, totaling close to 30,000 minutes of viewing, representing 68 international and 17 Indian languages from 78 countries. “The festival featured 23 Masterclasses, In-Conversation sessions, some accessible both physically and virtually. Close to 50 Gala Red carpets organised during the festival provided a boost to the whole celebration,” he said. The Minister also acknowledged the support of the esteemed jury members whose valuable time and dedicated efforts played a pivotal role in shaping this edition of the festival. Highlighting the efforts towards inclusivity and accessibility made by IFFI, the Minister said that films were specially curated for differently abled film-lovers so that they could enjoy the beauty of cinema at big screens with the help of sign language and audio descriptions. “We made sure to include more than 40 movies directed by women, celebrating their talent”, he added.

Films competing for the Golden Peacock at 55th IFFI.
Fifteen films will compete for the Golden Peacock award at the 55th International Film Festival 2024. This year's selection include 12 international films and 3 Indian films. The films will be judged by an esteemed jury led by renowned Indian filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, along with award-winning Singaporean director Anthony Chen, British-American producer Elizabeth Karlsen, Spanish producer Fran Borgia, and legendary Australian film editor Jill Bilcock. The jury will award honors in multiple categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor (Male), Best Actor (Female), and the Special Jury Prize. The winning film will receive a cash prize of ₹40 lakh and one of the festival's highest accolades.
This year's selections span a wide range of themes and genres, taking audiences on a journey into new realms, challenging perceptions, and elevating fresh voices in world cinema.

55th IFFI will honor four legendary film personalities.
Raj Kapoor, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Rafi, and Tapan Sinha will be honoured with IFFI Centenary Tribute
Indian Film industry legendary personalities Raj Kapoor, Akkineni Nageswara Rao , Mohammed Rafi and Tapan Sinha will be honored with the centenary tribute at 55th IFFI. The fest will celebrate cinematic legends by presenting restored versions of their classic films throughout its nine-day event. The festival’s opening ceremony on November 20 will pay tribute to these film personalities with a special audio-visual presentation that captures their impactful journeys in cinema.A variety of organizers have arranged a tribute program to honor the 100th birth anniversaries of four Indian cinema legends: actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor, director Tapan Sinha, Telugu cinema icon Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), and iconic singer Mohammed Rafi.
The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) have taken the restoration work to bring these classics back to their visual quality. Get ready to witness the centenary celebrations that will be held at November 20, at GOA.

Film Bazaar has announced the selection of six exceptional fiction films that will be showcased at Work-In-Progress Lab at 55th IFFI 2024.The list of Five debut features from young, emerging filmmakers, showcasing a wealth of unique narratives and offering a vibrant tapestry of cultural perspectives is given below:

- Gaangshalik (Gaangshalik – River Bird) by Shakteedhar Bir (Bengali)
- Yerra Mandaram (The Red Hibiscus) by Mohan Kumar Valasala (Telugu)
- Kaatti Ri Raatti (Hunters Moon) by Ridham Janve (Gaddi, Nepali)
- Umal by Siddharth Badi (Marathi)
- The Good, The Bad, The Hungry by Vivek Kumar (Hindi)
The Work-in-Progress Lab is a specialized program for fiction feature films intended for theatrical release, with up to six films chosen annually. Selected directors and editors gain the rare chance to present their rough cuts to a distinguished panel of mentors, receiving tailored, insightful feedback. Through personalized editing sessions, these filmmakers work alongside nationally and internationally acclaimed editors, refining their craft and advancing their creative vision. The mentorship team comprises a diverse group of industry leaders, including festival directors, critics, producers, and veteran editors, all dedicated to guiding filmmakers toward a compelling, polished final cut.

Film Bazaar was initiated by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) in 2007 and has evolved into South Asia's global film market. It is organized every year alongside the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.Incorporated in the year 1975, National Film Development Corporation Limited (NFDC) was formed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, with the primary objective of promoting Indian cinema and showcasing it across the world.Over the years, NFDC has produced noteworthy films with acclaimed filmmakers. Ghare-Baire (Satyajit Ray), Gandhi (Richard Attenborough), The Making of the Mahatma (Shyam Benegal), Salaam Bombay (Mira Nair), Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (Kundan Shah), Mirch Masala (Ketan Mehta), The Lunchbox (Ritesh Batra), The Good Road (Gyan Correa) to name a few.Over the years, films such as Lunch Box, Margarita With A Straw, Chauthi Koot, Qissa, Ship of Theseus, Titli, Court, Anhe Ghode Da Daan, Miss Lovely, Dum Lagake Haisha, Liar's Dice and Thithi have been through one or more programs of the Bazaar.

NFDC India announces selection for Co-Production Market at Film Bazaar 21 Feature Films, 8 Web Series from 7 Countries; Co-Production Market at Film Bazaar to witness Diverse Global Narratives NFDC Film Bazaar partners with Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) .The 18 edition of the NFDC Film Bazaar has announced its official selection for the Co-Production Market featuring 21 feature films and 8 web series from seven countries. Film Bazaar is organized every year alongside the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI) scheduled to take place from 20 to 28 November, 2024 in Goa. This year also the Film Bazaar is scheduled from 20 to 24 November 2024, at the Marriott Resort in Goa.

IFFI 2024: Australia chosen as the festival's 'Country of Focus'
The "Country of Focus" segment is a key feature of IFFI, offering a dedicated platform for showcasing a nation's best contemporary films. This inclusion reflects the growing collaboration between the Indian and Australian film industries. IFFI will present a curated selection of seven Australian films, showcasing the unique cultural identity of Australia and reflecting the vibrant spectrum of stories from its Indigenous and contemporary communities. Participation in Film Bazaar: Film Bazaar, the largest South Asian film market held alongside IFFI, will see significant Australian participation, with a strong delegation from Screen Australia, State Screen Commissions, and Ausfilm, the agency promoting Australia as a filming destination. They will present their offerings, including Australian locations and incentives, at the special Film Office exhibition area. The Film Bazaar will also feature a Producers' delegation, with up to six producers receiving funding from the Australian Government to attend and explore co-production opportunities. Additionally, a special Australian Co-production Day will provide delegates from both countries with networking opportunities.This edition of Film Bazaar will also showcase the Australian project 'Home Before Night' as one of its official entries in the Co-Production Market. A dedicated panel discussion in the Knowledge Series will focus on co-production opportunities between the two countries.A major attraction will be a Cinematography Master Class led by Academy Award-winning cinematographer John Seale, known for his work on iconic films such as 'Mad Max: Fury Road' and 'The English Patient'. This session will delve into his artistic journey and offer invaluable technical insights to budding filmmakers and enthusiasts. Seale will be participating as part of the Australian delegation.
